Certified Firearm Safety & Skills Instruction
The Paramount Importance of Firearm Safety
Safety is the foundation of responsible firearm ownership. At Atlantic Firearm Institute, LLC, the preservation of life, disciplined judgment, and respect for others guide every course, every range command, and every training decision.
The Standard Before the Skill
Why firearm safety matters.
Technical proficiency has value only when it is governed by safe habits. Consistent handling, secure storage, legal awareness, and sound judgment reduce preventable risk at home, in transit, in the field, and on the range.
Preventing Accidents
Disciplined firearm handling is the first line of defense against negligent discharges and preventable injuries. Repetition turns correct procedures into dependable habits—even when conditions become unfamiliar or stressful.
Ensuring Legal Integrity
Responsible owners understand and follow the laws, regulations, range rules, and lawful instructions that apply to possession, transport, storage, carry, and use. Compliance reflects professionalism and respect for the responsibility entrusted to every firearm owner.
Preserving Life & Community
The ultimate purpose of firearm safety is the preservation of life. Every deliberate action taken by a trained, responsible owner strengthens the standard of care within families, training environments, and the wider community.
Four Rules. Every Firearm. Every Time.
Non-negotiable safety principles.
These rules operate together. Responsibility is never delegated to a mechanical safety, an assumption, or another person.
Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
Personally verify its condition and continue to handle it with the discipline owed to a loaded firearm.
Never allow the muzzle to cover anything you are unwilling to destroy.
Maintain positive muzzle control at all times, including during loading, unloading, storage, transport, and transitions.
Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you are ready to fire.
The trigger finger remains indexed along the frame until the sights are on the intended target and the decision to fire has been made.
Know your target—and what is around and beyond it.
Identify the target, foreground, background, and potential consequences before every shot.
AFI’s Commitment to Safety
Safety is embedded in every facet of our instruction.
Our programs develop more than mechanical skill. They cultivate disciplined awareness, sound decision-making, and accountable conduct.
Comprehensive Training Programs
Each course reinforces safe handling, secure storage, lawful transport, range discipline, situational awareness, and the responsible application of learned skills.
Qualified, Experienced Instruction
AFI instruction is delivered by credentialed professionals who place safety, clear communication, demonstration, supervision, and objective student performance at the center of every session.
Structured Learning Environments
Training is conducted under defined procedures and range commands. Students are expected to follow directions immediately, use required protective equipment, and demonstrate responsible conduct throughout the course.
A clear safety standard protects everyone.
- Every participant must follow instructor commands, posted rules, and applicable laws.
- Unsafe conduct may result in an immediate cease-fire, pause in training, or removal from the activity.
- Completion or certification depends on meeting the stated safety and performance requirements—not attendance alone.
- AFI training is educational and does not replace individualized legal advice or a participant’s duty to know the law.
A Culture of Responsibility
Confidence is earned through knowledge, discipline, and integrity.
Atlantic Firearm Institute champions a culture of responsibility, education, and vigilance. Our mission is to empower firearm owners with the confidence, judgment, and disciplined skill required to handle every firearm safely and responsibly. Through principled training, we strengthen individual competence and the collective commitment to preserving life.
